What is considered as giving? What is considered as sacrifice? This is a question i ask everytime i give someone a gift.It can be either in cash or kind.Of late i developed a feeling of emptyness when i give.I used to feel good to hear someone say,"thank you" but now these words seem empty. After giving a homeless guy a five dollar bill,i remain with $95.00 in my wallet and $500,000 dollars in my bank. This person will probably buy a botttle of colt 45,cigarettes or a cheap burger and goes back to the same corner again. Now i feel useless after doing so because i feel probably i can do better.
Now can you imagine taking that person to your house, let them have a shower, eat a warm dinner and probably find out the best way to help them. Now this is giving. You do not know them, they might steal from your house or worse they might hurt you or your family. What would make you feel better?
There are homeless shelters, churches, rehabilitation centers and various organisations that handle cases like these but you still find homeless people on the streets of every country you can go to.Have you ever wondered why?Giving is a fantasy and sacrifice is eternal.
You can imagine how in our culture we bring muzukuru or anyone from a rural area and help them get a job or education.
How many people will release half of their earnings for a cause? How many people can release all of their savings to help someone whether you know them or not?We can count such individuals. These are only a few.Now how many people can offer their life in order that somebody else can live? You will probably tell me,you will, but then if i ask you to actually do it,you won't do it.The reason you can't do it is because you don't have the heart.
People claim they took sacrifices going abroad but what did you actually sacrifice coming out here?Is it happiness? Is it freedom? Is it money?Honestly most of you can't answer these questions with an open and honest mind.
We are giving up our own country, culture, tradition and families for what?Ask me,this is a sacrifice that i find hard to fathom.I know most of us are in this conundrum but are we helpless? No we are not,we just don't have the courage and heart to face our true selves in that mirror.
